Whitehaven Beach

Whitehaven is the goto beach in the Whitsundays. Long stretch of white sand and blue water. All the charter and resort excursions end up at Whitehaven. They even bring them in by seaplane. Gets very crowded at one end of the beach in the lee of the island … which leaves the rest of the 5 kilometre beach pretty deserted. Spent 2 nights here, one night among all the other yachts and the next night at the other end of the beach. This gave us a head start in the morning to the next destination … Hook Reef!

There is a hike that goes in the island but we opted for the beach walk there and back being in the range of 11 Km. Good walk except for the dreaded bugs!! At least we are getting our exercise!

Yeah, the beach walk sounds much better and easier. You don’t need that unnecessary challenge in your day schedule ?
