Really have to get better at posting. Been here for close to a month and I haven’t posted anything. After we dropped Shelley off back on the 13th, we picked Liam up on the 15th for a 3 week visit. He spent some time with his grandparents while we took the opportunity to do a few boat maintenance items while sitting in the RQS Marina.
Had a visit from Chris S. back at Evergreen. He has been here with his family on vacation and got in touch with us. Great to share a beer and see a familiar face from home.
Serviced a couple of the winches. Discovered how easy that process was. Had a little apprehension about taking them apart and losing little bits, but after some youtube searches it turned out to be a quick and easy task.
Took the dinghy down to the place we bought it from last year to have a look at why we were getting an excess amount of water in each time we used it. They took it in on warranty and repaired it. Perfect! Had the yearly service done on the dinghy engine and found a decent engine cover.
Jacqui was able to play some squash, I of course could not … damn shoulder! Took Liam down to Byron Bay and dropped him off for the young person holiday. Picked him up a few days later … intact. Good thing we had a car available for all of this … oh yes … the fucking car! Poor little car didn’t make it. Blew a turbo gasket or something in the engine and would have cost us more than the car was worth just to take it apart to find the problem. Had to say goodbye. 🙁 Now we are carless, but we have MAD to get us around.
Spent a few days out in the bay over to Peel Island and Canaipa Corner while Liam was with us. Would have done more but the winds were coming mostly from the north and with conviction. We were looking at over 30 knot gusts coming back from Canaipa corner to Peel, so we tucked into Peel till the Tuesday when it was flat carm and we motored back to RQS.
Had to say goodbye to Liam on Wednesday. Discovered a whole bunch of new music to add to the playlists. Got thrashed in Yahtzee while Liam seemed to win everything …. LET’S GOOO!
We are stocking up and heading out on Sunday for the inside passage down to the Gold Coast. We might spend a couple of days there and see what the winds are going to do. This year apparently there has been a extraordinary amount of wind coming from the north and we will want to take advantage of that as we go south.
Just a side note. As you can see from the feature image on this post there is a lot of haze/smoke in the air. Australia has been experiencing a lot of bush fires this year. We saw a lot as we were coming south and they continue. Hopefully they will get more rain!
It continues to be good for you. The weather here has been cold. -4 oh well winter you know. Miss you
Hey Shelley,
Hit 37C today. Out doing errands before we head out on Sunday. Sometimes I miss the cold 🙂
Love ya.
Great post you guys – we should have read it before we talked and saved you repeating yourselves ?
Yeah, you absolutely suck with the frequency of your posts, in fact at some point I thought you have finished sailing ?.
