Vancouver Visit

Vancouver

Arrived in Vancouver to find that both of us had secured a cold. Something everyone should experience after a 13 hour flight sitting beside hackers and coughers. I didn’t lose my cold and cough till … oh… wait a minute, I still have a cough after getting back to Brisbane a month later. Jacqui faired better than me after a couple weeks. Had the fantastic opportunity to stay at Lisa and Pauls while they were away in Spain watching their daughter represent Canada in the Women’s Field Hockey. And, the team finished second to Spain in the final. Fantastic showing for Women’s Field Hockey!

Had a great time seeing everyone at the squash club. Got a 3 month trial membership so that we could get access to the club whenever we wanted. Played some doubles and a couple hits on the singles court. After a few games on the doubles court came away with a rotator cuff tear that I have to admit was with me for … about a year. Had it diagnosed and MRI’d thanks to a friend, did some physio thanks to another friend and now managing with the pain. In the meantime played some golf … not enough as the game suffers with no practise. Who knew! Hiked up the sea-to-sky or sea-to-summit whichever you prefer. Jacqui also tended to her pet Saybee by taking her up Grouse Mountain with Liam and Pete and Deb to scatter the ashes. Emotional time for all, after having Saybee for 12 years. Also, took my sister up Grouse. Not sure if she really enjoyed it but didn’t complain. Great hike!

The Wedding

Meghan and Jesse got married at the end of June and had an awesome wedding! Had the pleasure of meeting Jesse’s parents, relatives and friends. Meghan was absolutely stunning in her wedding dress! What dad would not be proud. Proud of her and of Jesse!

After the wedding we were on our own to figure things out. Jacqui went off to the Sunshine Coast for a squash girls getaway and I spent a very relaxing time doing nothing. Then time to get back to Brisbane. Spent a great few days with Pete and Deb and a night out with Daniella and Tony in New West before our flight back. Getting back to Brisbane was uneventful and relaxing. Back on the boat and preparing for the next adventure!  Zena and Emma were extremely happy to be back home after a month in cat prison.

Great to hear some news about the wedding and your travels. Bugger about the shoulder though Noel. Come out our way, with Jacqui of course, for some R & R. Would love to catch up sometime. We’ve been to Victoria and back on the block till we go o/s. Love to you both. L & D.

Wedding was great and the shoulder will be about a year in recovery and if no surgery then probably no more squash … We will try to catch up somewhere down the road. Take care, Noel.
