Project Madness with COVID19

It’s about time that we let everyone know what it is that we are doing. During this pandemic the challenge is to find things that will keep you busy especially when there is nowhere that can be called home. I have been back in Canada now since the 6th of April and done my bit to isolate in Nelson, Jacqui has been “isolating” as well in Sydney. Worlds apart!

While here in Nelson I have been helping sis with some projects around the house. Built a new garden bed and added the “west wing” onto the shed in the backyard. Will find a few more projects over the summer to complete. Maybe some more hiking in the area. Nelson has a lot of great hiking trails.

I have had the luxury of sis’s friends car for the time that I am here so took advantage of that and travelled to Vancouver, twice. First time was a doctors appointment, which I assumed would be cancelled but they still wanted me to come in. All good nothing to report. The second time was a planned trip to Osoyoos for a few days golf with some friends from Vancouver and since I was half way to Vancouver, I decided to carry on to the city and have some family and friends time. And some more golf… game is finally getting back to where it was but I don’t anticipate playing a lot of golf over the next few weeks. I was scheduled to have shoulder surgery after the elective surgeries started up again. They told me it would be 4 – 5 months to get in. With that in mind it may have been September to get it done and I was all willing to wait it out just to get that done. Now it will be over a year before I can get scheduled in for surgery. After I found that out I applied for the visa to get back to Australia. There is a 2 month waiting period for processing and then a matter of them accepting the application based on the fact that we have been together for these past few years.

Rather be back aboard MAD making our way up to the Whitsundays for another round of sailing adventures.

Jacqui, in the meantime, has been a lot more productive than I have been with projects. (boat projects). She has been able to replace the plexiglass in the canopy where it had become all weathered, replaced the salon cushion covers and new covers for the pillows. Did some staining of the wood in the cockpit and created a frame for the freezer to sit on in the shower/storage room. All projects that needed doing.
