Hook Reef and the Shark

Hook reef is about 24nm northeast of Whitehaven Beach. We set off in the morning and had the lines out to see if we could snag a fish… I am downstairs at the time and all I heard was SHARK! When in fact it was FISH ON!! We started reeling this thing in on the hand line and the closer it got the more it looked like a shark! It was just a small black tip shark and we managed to unhook him without doing too much damage. He looked like he was swimming when we got him off the hook.

The reef was a little tricky getting in, and we did manage to snag a mooring buoy. Tried out the cheap “Go Pro” that we picked up to see some of the reef. It hasn’t been brilliant coral but we did entice a few big fish around the boat with a little bread … like feeding the birds.

Once I get the stupid video to work properly i will post…. uggghh!!
