Settled in Raby Bay Marina for Christmas
Dave was able to secure an employment contract for 3 months starting Dec 14th so hightailed it home around the 9th, back to the luxury of land loving routines. Thanks Dave for being an awesome sailing buddy. I got to spit and polish MAD and get used to being in one spot, it is quite convenient here in Raby Bay walking distance to everything.
I did reflect that on the fact that Noel and I have been apart for quite a while now and the chance of Australia opening their international borders were next to none in the next little while, I decided to put MAD on the boat market with the potential of two different paths coming to light, sell or not sell. I spent a few sleepless nights worrying about losing my home and such an awesome boat I think I am still in shock somewhat ….
Covid started to affect me in all kinds of ways towards Christmas. NSW had a cluster outbreak which had everyone worried about QLD closing its borders again. My niece, Lauren was due to start university Jan 11 and booked it over the border before restrictions started. Yeah! room mate for a while. My brother and his family visiting my parents had been in the NSW hotspot and subject to self quarantine at my parents and not allowing visitors, so Lauren and I headed out on the water for 4-5 days and had a nice quiet Xmas swimming and hiking off big sand hills. Visited Tangalooma and down to Peel Island for hike and hang out with 200 boats in Horseshoe Bay (yuck). We had awesome sailing trip and saw New Years at Mom and Dads and thank goodness 2020 behind us.
I showed the boat to interested parties and it proved to be a busy time. Result being that we are under contract for a sale at the end of the month. 2021 is going to look a lot different. I bought a car to facilitate upcoming changes and be mobile, have started to remove the vast amount of things I have on MAD and swear the waterline had come up at least an inch or two!
Stay tuned for upcoming 2021 plans I know that sailing is now part of my life and one I can not give up so I will be a land lubber for a while and see what churns out in the first quarter but hopefully a visit home eventually to see the bambinos and of course Noel!
Where did you get your boat title from – MAD?? And your camel and your other small kids’float?
